  Mary Ann Arlt
  Senior Vice President, Plan Administration

 

Ms. Arlt has over twenty-five years of experience as an attorney and plan operations leader specializing in ERISA (the Employee Retirement Income Security Act) matters. She joined Fiduciary Counselors Inc. as Senior Vice President, Plan Administration in 2009. Ms. Arlt leads the firm's engagements in administering plans that require an independent administrator.

Ms. Arlt comes from Aon Human Capital Services, a subsidiary of Aon Consulting, where she managed a 7-year $600 million outsourcing agreement to perform virtually all of AT&T’s human resource functions.  Prior to moving into the contract management role, she  was the Operations Executive for the AT&T’s outsourced Benefits and Labor operations, which included pensions, savings, health plans, disability and FMLA, as well as AT&T’s interactions  with its unions (including grievances and arbitration, bargaining, payroll interface, intra-company transfers and training).

She was Senior Vice President at Aon Consulting where she led the team that fully outsourced Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) processing for defined benefit and defined contribution plans and was responsible for legal issues related to compliance, operations and corporate restructuring of nine AT&T savings plans.

Ms. Arlt served as lead benefits counsel to the former Lucent Technologies (now Lucent Alcatel), during their first national bargaining negotiations with the CWA and IBEW, following their spin off from AT&T Corp. She has provided benefit counsel support to AT&T’s national benefits bargaining with the CWA, as well as support to company benefit plan committees determining claims and appeals from qualified benefit plans and disability plans.  

She is a member of the Retirement Income Task Force of the American Benefits Council, and the Business law and Tax Sections of the American Bar Association.  She has served as Chair of the Association of Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Contract holders and as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Task Force on Book Value Accounting for Guaranteed Investment Contracts in Defined Contribution Plans.   

Prior to joining Aon Consulting in Somerset, New Jersey (formerly Actuarial Science Associates), Ms. Arlt was a partner in the law firm Gray Robinson, P.A. in Orlando, Florida. She holds a J.D. degree, cum laude, from the Stetson University College of Law where she was a Notes and Comments Editor for the Stetson Law Review and served as a Teaching Assistant for Legal Research and Writing.  She is admitted to the Bar in Florida and Massachusetts.
